One of the most exciting times in your Chalk Couture business is the time between when you hit “join” online and to when your Chalk Couture Starter Kit comes in the mail! So, here are a few things to help you fill your time!
SCHEDULE YOUR LAUNCH OPEN HOUSE!
An Open House is key to let everyone know about your new Chalk Couture Business. This can be either online or in person.. A Launch party is about introducing to absolutely everyone you know about your new business. Sharing your love of Chalk Couture is amazing but it will not prepare your business for Success. You want to focus on booking workshops, building relationships and getting the word out there that you are the go to designer! When you are planning your Open House, you want to keep it simple and remember the three P’s: Preparing, Planning and Presentation. Remember to keep your Open House party fun, exciting and stress free. Take a deep breath, relax and have fun! Have a great time showing off your new Chalk Couture Starter Kit to your friends and family. Your smile and excitement will be contagious, your guests will want to be a part of it too whether it’s joining your team or hosting a party.
CREATE A FRANKS LIST
You are probably asking at this point, who is FRANK? LOL! Here is where this fun term comes from:
(F)riends or Facebook
(R)elatives
(A)cquaintances or Activities
(N)eighbors
(K)ids
It’s very important when creating your list to go in with a positive attitude and open mind. Never ever pre-judge. In my last business I had customers from stay at home moms to lawyers, member on my team making $100,000s of in the “day job”. Women are looking for a creative outlet! Some one that you omitted from your list could end up on someone else’s list and end up as their customer, hostess or new team member.
I literally take out a piece or two of paper and start on Facebook – right at the top of my list. Making a list of people who may like Chalk Couture – it is a fairly big list.
When compiling your FRANKS Contact List, it is important to use Memory Joggers to get you started. Here are a few examples of memory joggers: Babysitter, Banker, Bridesmaid, Dentist, Doctor, Sorority Friend, BFF, Teacher, Gym, Co-Worker, Sister, Realtor, Unemployed, Stay At Home Mom, People Person, Popular, Needs More Money, Best Dressed, Strong Influence, Service Industry Worker, Enthusiastic. These are just a few sample memory jogger terms or adjectives to use when thinking of those individuals who would be amazing assets to your FRANKS Contact List.
OPEN A SEPARATE BANKING ACCOUNT
I can’t tell you enough how important this is. Not only is it good for bookkeeping, because YES this is a business, but it was a much easier way to track your income and expenses! And the best part – your Chalk Couture Starter Kit is your first business write off.
EXPLORE YOUR CHALK SHOP BACK OFFICE
Chalk Couture corporate office has done an amazing job of creating training resources that will assist you in getting started in your business. You will also receive a series of 6 weekly emails beginning with the first day that you sign up. Be sure to read through each email carefully, they are full of lots of great information that you will need to know in getting started with your new business. Our team also has a great bonus – we have a separate training area for social media training – everything you need to run your business online!
SET YOUR BUSINESS GOALS
I am a huge believer in setting goals for your business. It may be a simple goal like “pay for my crafting supplies”. Maybe you want to take your family on a bonus holiday. For some people, it may be add to or replace a full time income. No matter WHAT your goals are – have them (I have one to pay for a house keeper on a weekly basis!). If you don’t know where to start, talk to the person who helped you join Chalk Couture.
READ YOUR COMPANY’S POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
In the back office you will find the company’s Policies and Procedures, these are a set of regulations and guidelines that you agreed upon when you signed up to become a consultant. There are many important things you will need to know when conducting your direct sales business and what you can and can not do as a designer. We are all responsible for knowing the rules in which we can run our businesses effectively and it is important to know these rules ahead of time so there is no confusion down the road.
CONNECT WITH YOUR TEAM THROUGH FACEBOOK GROUPS
Once you join your company, it is important to be added to your mentor and upline team’s Facebook groups. For our team, we have a “First 90 Days” group, our amazing uplines group, and the main Chalk Couture group. That will give you MORE then enough info to get you going!
SIGN UP FOR A CREDIT CARD READER
Research a credit card reader for your smart phone. There will be opportunities where you will sell some of your inventory or receive credit card payments from customers. You want to be prepared by being able to accept credit card payments right on the spot. Credit Card readers are very convenient and handy and only charge a small percentage per swipe. I currently use a Square which is so easy to use and the one I highly recommend. I also recommend opening a Paypal account, this will be a very helpful alternative for your customers to pay you for products.
SET UP YOUR CRAFT/ OFFICE SPACE AND ORDER BUSINESS SUPPLIES
Now here comes the fun part – organizing a craft/office space for your new business. There are so many different options to choose from…whether it’s your home office, a corner of your family room or even a mobile office you can bring out and set anywhere…you will want to have a separate space for your new business. Having a designated office space ensures that your items are easily accessible and are ready and waiting for your when you want to work your business. It also keeps your personal life separate from your business which can be very important, especially if you have kids! And really, once your Chalk Couture Starter kit shows up, you are going to want to dive right in!
Now is a good time to also order any business supplies that you may need, especially your business cards. We have a link in the back office to make sure you receive ones with all the right information!
FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH CHALK COUTURE
As you wait for your Starter Kit to arrive, now is the time to familiarize yourself with all of the amazing products. There are LOTS of great videos in the back office to help you out, and in our team training, I list a bunch of great YouTube Channels of other designers that you can go and watch!
While there are many other options and tasks you can do waiting for your kit, these ones will set you up for success in your business!
